How To Get Back On The Writing Wagon

It happens — you enjoyed the holidays, missed a few writing sessions and now you feel like you've fallen off the writing wagon. It's tempting to mentally slap yourself around, right? You've gotten out of the story. Before you start, I want to remind you of something: Forget being hard on yourself, just get to work.

You know how to deal with setbacks and get back on schedule. And after all, there are no mistakes, just learning experiences. Writing is a process — it takes time. You will encounter small failures — everyone does — but every word you write is a step toward success.

And if you miss a writing session, it's not the end of the world! Get to the keyboard the next day and continue to focus on your short-term goals. Maybe that goal is one page a day. Just because you make the choice to slack off today doesn't mean you can't start over tomorrow. New day? New beginning. And don't you forget, more writing.

After getting the first draft of Notes To My Kids done, I am waiting on the kid's feedback so I am not writing much except for some tweaking here and there. For me it goes in phases.

I'm great at giving advice. Now if I could just follow some of it. I find it extremely hard to get back into a story if I leave it a while.
